10/2007 - ball joints are
"MADE IN ENGLAND" The ball joint rubber boots upper/lower were removed due to 40 years deterioration. Each boot had an embedded steel collar at the small end making this a little difficult, but was eventually snipped with side cutters. The ball joint threads as shown are not metric, but English sizes - 1/2"x20 on the upper, 5/8"x18 on the lower. The replacement units also seem to have English threads as well. Replacement new rubber boots for these ball joints are being sought. The reference sizes are shown as well. The upper boot has a small diameter of 18mm and a large diameter of 36mm with a height of 27mm. The lower boot is 18x45x27. Slightly smaller boots could be stretched, slighly taller boots could be compressed. |
